Esperanza's box of Saints

Esperanza's Box of Saint is about Esperanza a mother and wife, who lost both her husband and their only child. As if losing one person that means the world to you are not enough, imagine losing two. Esperanza lost her only child Blanca due to rare diseases after a tonsil operation. Esperanza was deeply hurt, and in disbelief. She just wanted to see her daughter for the last time but the Doctor prohibited her from seeing Blanca, because he believes the diseases was contagious. Not being able to see Blanca after she passed away drove Esperanza insane. Esperanza believed that her saint appeared before her and that Blanca was still alive and could possibly be kidnapped for child prostitution. With that set in Esperanza's mind, she goes out to look for her daughter in brothels, showing her body doing anything that would get her closer to finding Blanca. Time goes by and Esperanza has no sign of Blanca. Frustrated and ready to give up Esperanza returns to her home in México where she is soon to find an apparition of Blanca in her restroom at home. Then and only does Esperanza except that her only child has moved on into a better place.

I would recommend this book. The Author Maria Amparo Escandon uses every descriptive words and detailed sentences. What i liked about this book was that Esperanza did not give up on looking for her daughter but she followed her beliefs until she was satisfied that her daughter indeed has gone to a better place. Esperanza might on no been mentally or emotionally strong, but she physically never gave up in looking for her daughter. Esperanza is not a whore she was just doing what any mother would of done to find their only daughter no matter what it took. She never had sexual intercourse with any of the men she met in the brothels, expect with the one she fell in love with and wished to spent the rest of her life with and that says a lot about a women.
